Sola Scriptura
1: We believe the Bible[Tanakh (O.T.) and B’rit Chadashah (NT)], as originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, is the inerrant and infallible word of God. (The Bible was not written in English; rather it has been translated into English.) It is the standard in ALL matters of belief, science, history, etc. It is ‘God breathed’. If the Bible ‘teaches’ only A on a subject, and a person teaches B on a subject, and A and B are contradictory and mutually exclusive, then B and that person are incorrect.
2: Inerrancy and infallibility only apply to the writer(1st person), and any person/being who is not contradicting Scripture elsewhere. Everything recorded in the Bible is true, but not everything said in the Bible is correct. It is true that they said what they said, but what they said may or may not be true and/or correct. People(s) and/or being(s) written about in the Bible: What a person/being says is correct/true unless it contradicts something elsewhere in the Bible, in the 1st person.
3: The Bible uses literal language, idioms, allegories, poetry, metaphors, figures of speech, etc. The Bible is NOT always literal, but is always correct and true. The Bible must be interpreted/understood using the grammatical/historical method. It must be interpreted/understood in its Israelite/Jewish historical, cultural, and religious context to be completely true and correct. Otherwise, incorrect, untrue, and illogical conclusions and interpretations will be the result. This is especially true of what is commonly called the New Testament (B’rit Chadashah). The context of the ‘New Testament’ is what is commonly referred to as the ‘Old Testament’(Tanakh). The Tanakh (‘Old Testament’) was given by God first, therefore it is the context of the ‘New Testament’ and it MUST be understood in order to correctly interpret the ‘New Testament’.
4: We do not believe in Translational Inerrancy and Infallibility. No translation is 100% correct and perfect. Only the Bible as it was written in the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek is perfect, inerrant, and infallible! There is no perfect English translation. There is no such a thing as a perfect translation. Many English translations come close, but no translation is completely perfect, inerrant, and infallible.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever. Yesha’Yahu(Isaiah) 40:8
God promised to preserve His Word forever, i.e. the Bible in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. God did not promise to preserve the English language (or any other) or the Bible translated in English (or any other language).
5: We believe the complete Bible [Tanakh (O.T.) and B’rit Chadashah (NT)], is for all who believe in HaShem(The Name), whether physical Jew or physical Gentile. We believe the complete Bible should be believed and obeyed. Every person must accept them at their own speed, but that is the expected and ideal path for all, both physical Jew and physical Gentile believers. His path is a relationship and a growth process.
6: We believe salvation is a relationship, not a one night stand. Salvation is not a one time event! Salvation is, and always was, by believing and trusting in God. Obedience always automatically follows believing and trusting the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, through Yeshua(Jesus).
7: We believe the Torah(Law)[Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy] is for all believers, physical Jew or physical Gentile who is grafted into Israel. When a person accepts God and Yeshua HaMashiach(Jesus The Christ), they are obligated to obey the Torah(Law), out of love for God. Each person must accept the commandments at their own speed, but that is the expected and ideal path for all, both physical Jew and physical Gentile believers.
8: Oral Torah(Mishnah) and Jewish Religious Traditions: We believe that believers in God through Yeshua(Jesus) The Messiah, after accepting Him, should obey and follow the Traditions in the Mishnah, Talmud, Tosefta, Sifre, Jewish religious traditions, etc. These are the Jewish Rabbis and Jewish Sages. Some were Messianic, some were not Messianic. They sit in Moses’ seat and should be obeyed. [See Mattit’yahu(Matthew) 23:1-3]
Exceptions:
A: If it contradicts or violates Scripture, then it is not to be obeyed.
B: If following a tradition would violate a commandment(s) in Scripture, then it must not be obeyed.
C. If a tradition does not have Biblical support.
Then Yeshua(Jesus) spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: ‘The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.’ Mattityahu (Matthew) 23:1-3
Paul was a Rabbi and Pharisee, stayed a Rabbi and a Pharisee, after he accepted Messiah Yeshua. He obeyed all of the Torah(Written Law), Oral Torah(Oral Law), and Jewish religious traditions. (Acts 21:24-26, 24:17-18, 26:5, 23:6, 28:17) He never spoke against obeying any of the traditions. The Pharisees documented these traditions. They are a part of Biblical Judaism/Biblical Christianity, and mainstream Judaism today.
The critical difference between Biblical Judaism/Biblical Christianity and Roman Catholic Christianity, Eastern Orthodox Christianity, Protestant Christianity[Protestant Christians have traditions that violate the Bible], non-Biblical Christianity and mainstream tradition, is simply this: Physical Jews and physical Gentiles who practice Biblical Judaism/Biblical Christianity believe all these ‘traditions’ are below the Bible in importance and authority.
Scripture supercedes any and all ‘traditions’; even the ‘traditions’ of the Jewish Rabbis and Jewish Sages! They are only human, they can make errors and mistakes, God’s Word in the Bible is never an error, fallible, or mistaken. Non-Biblical Judaism/non-Biblical Christianity have traditions that violate God’s Word.
9: The Apocrypha: We do not believe The Apocrypha books are Inerrant(no errors) or Infallible(no fallacies), as far as doctrine(teaching) and belief. Therefore they cannot be used for doctrine, or Biblical belief or practice. We do believe they are an historical reference, and can be used as such. Example: Person A did action A, to person B, at a certain time.
10. We believe all believers, through belief and trust in God, must keep all of God's Moed'im (appointed times/Holy Days/Feast/Festivals). We believe that believers must not accept any paganism mixed with Truth. Any "traditional" holiday that has pagan roots in practice, ties or facets must be purged.
Thus said YHVH, “Do not learn the way of the gentiles, and do not be awed by the signs of the heavens, for the gentiles are awed by them. Jeremiah 10:2
Any "traditional" holiday, even based on a Biblical feast day which serves as a replacement for that day, must not be observed. We believe the Biblical day is from sundown to sundown. We believe in keeping God's seventh-day Shabbat (Sabbath) holy. That day on the Roman calendar is Saturday and not Sun-day which is the first day of the week.
We are not "Jews for Jesus". We strongly agree with their work of bringing non-Messianic Jews to acceptance of Yeshua(Jesus), as the Jewish Messiah. However, we just as strongly disagree with the belief/policy of "Jews for Jesus"; upon acceptance of Messiah Yeshua(Christ Jesus), Jews(and Gentiles), are not to obey and follow the Torah(Law)! This contradicts and violates the Tanakh and Messianic Scriptures that speak of Yeshua(Jesus). We believe the Torah speaks of Yeshua (Jesus) and those that love Him keep His commandments.
For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” Yochanan (John) 5:46-47
A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40
He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 Yochanan (John) 2:4
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Yochanan (John) 15:10
